Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Casserole dish
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Colander
  • Spatula or wooden spoon

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Fresh parsley or basil

Instructions

  • Cook the Spaghetti:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions (usually 8-10 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  • Cook the Chicken:
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked and no longer pink in the middle. Once cooked, remove from heat and shred the chicken with two forks.
  • Make the Sauce:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, shredded cheese, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and the cheese is well incorporated.
  • Assemble the Dish:
Add the cooked spaghetti and shredded chicken to the bowl with the sauce. Stir everything together until the pasta is evenly coated in the creamy sauce.
  • Bake:
Transfer the mixture into a greased casserole dish and spread it out evenly. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and the dish is heated through.
  • Serve:
Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve hot. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use Rotisserie Chicken for Convenience: If you’re short on time, a store-bought rotisserie chicken can save you a lot of effort. Just shred it and add it to the casserole for a quick and flavorful version.
  • Add a Crunchy Topping: For an extra touch of texture, sprinkle some breadcrumbs or crushed crackers over the top of the casserole before baking. It will add a delightful crunch!
  • Don’t Overcook the Pasta: Make sure to cook the pasta just until al dente. Since it will bake in the sauce, overcooked pasta can turn mushy and affect the texture of the final dish.
  • Customize the Sauce: Feel free to switch up the cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or even a homemade white sauce for a more personalized flavor. Adding a dash of hot sauce or red pepper flakes can give it a spicy kick.
  • Garnish for Freshness: A sprinkle of fresh herbs like parsley or basil adds a burst of color and freshness to the dish, balancing out the creamy richness and making it look even more inviting.
